"Ácido folclórico" Finale Fuses Folklore and Electronic Music
Canarian artists Dailo Barco and Claudia Bliss will present the final performance of "Ácido folclórico," an audiovisual live set blending traditional Canarian culture with electronic music, at La Salita at the Auditorio de Tenerife on Wednesday, January 14, at 7:30 PM, with free admission.
On Wednesday, January 14, at 7:30 PM, La Salita at the Auditorio de Tenerife will host the final presentation of "Ácido folclórico" (Folkloric Acid). This artistic residency project blends memory, identity, and traditional culture with electronic music.
This public event is the culmination of a collaboration between Canarian artists Dailo Barco and Claudia Bliss, supported by the Laboratory of Live Arts and Citizenship of the Canary Islands (LAV-C). It features an audiovisual live set where sound and visuals combine to reinterpret Canarian folklore for the dance floor. The project draws inspiration from old sound and film archives, incorporating elements like the "song of the moray eel," ancient rituals, and historical events such as the El Hierro Manifesto. This creates an experience that mixes techno, house, and electro music with visuals of traditional dances, landscapes, and cultural expressions from the Canary Islands.
Claudia Bliss, a DJ and electronic music producer, and Dailo Barco, a VJ and filmmaker specializing in archive footage, will deliver a live set. They aim to create a powerful sensory experience by blending sounds and images. Recognizing the dance floor as a space for shared exploration, they infuse Canarian cultural elements into electronic beats. "Ácido folclórico" is not about nostalgia. Instead, it aims to liberate the past from its original setting, sparking emotions and engaging bodies in the present. The stage becomes a dynamic space, rich with memory and open to interpretation.
This project is part of a residency program at La Salita, organized by the Laboratory of Live Arts and Citizenship of the Canary Islands. The program offers not only space but also artistic and production support for innovative projects that go beyond traditional performance styles.
According to the direction of LAV-C, supporting this kind of work is crucial for the health of the Canarian cultural sector. They state that "the creative works of artists like Bliss and Dailo bring quality to the underground scene of the Canary Islands. It is essential that institutions provide space and support for these types of works that enrich the scene." They also point out that these projects highlight a generation of local artists with immense potential who need continued opportunities. LAV-C expresses great satisfaction in bringing these proposals to life in collaboration with the Auditorio de Tenerife team.
This initiative uses music, discussion, video, and performance to create new artistic stories and fresh narratives for the Canary Islands.
Admission to "Ácido folclórico" is free, on a first-come, first-served basis, until the venue reaches full capacity.
