Renowned Spanish choreographer Carmen Werner brings her latest production, Delicada caída, to Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s Teatro Victoria this weekend for a two-day exploration of human vulnerability.

Carmen Werner, a leading figure in contemporary Spanish choreography, returns to Santa Cruz de Tenerife this weekend. The Madrid-born artist, a recipient of the 2007 National Dance Award and the 2020 Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts, is bringing her latest production to the Teatro Victoria.

Titled Delicada caída (Delicate Fall), the piece represents a new exploration of movement by Werner’s company, Provisional Danza. Through this work, she examines human vulnerability in uncertain times, touching on themes like economic instability, the fear of illness, and the sudden arrival of the unexpected. Rather than following a traditional story, the performance uses the body to process the emotional weight of these existential fears.

Performances take place this Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Following Saturday’s show, there will be a post-performance discussion moderated by Laura Marrero Marcelino, offering the audience a chance to learn more about the creative process and Werner’s long career. At 73, Werner remains a vital force in Spanish dance, and her visit to Tenerife highlights the importance of bringing world-class, personal artistic work to island audiences.
