Chimbesque Secures Historic Treble With Cajasiete Cup Victory

The Chimbesque Wrestling Club has capped off a historic season by winning the First Category Cajasiete Cup. With this victory, the San Miguel de Abona team has secured an unprecedented treble. The final took place last Sunday at the Tasagaya arena in Güímar, where Chimbesque narrowly defeated Rosario de Valle de Guerra 12-11.

The match was decided by a tense showdown between the teams' star wrestlers. With San Miguel trailing 10-11, Eusebio Ledesma faced off against Fabián Rocha. After an initial draw, Ledesma won the second bout, shifting the momentum in Chimbesque’s favor. Adel Chimbesque then sealed the win by defeating Cristian Arbelo, who had earlier eliminated Víctor Pimienta.

The final was a testament to the consistency Chimbesque has shown all season. While Lamine Dieng gave the San Miguel side an early lead, the team from Valle de Guerra fought back to level the score at 7-7 midway through the contest.

This trophy completes a remarkable year for the club, which had already claimed the Tenerife Caixabank League and the DISA Government of the Canary Islands Tournament earlier this summer. The win also marks a significant turnaround for the club, which lost last year's final to Victoria.

Ledesma’s performance throughout the season has been the cornerstone of the team’s success. His dominance highlights that Canarian wrestling is as much about strategic composure under pressure as it is about individual technique—a quality that proved vital in their victory in Güímar.
