Chilean Producers Eye Global Expansion at Conecta Fiction Market
A delegation of Chilean production companies is set to attend the Conecta Fiction market to secure international partnerships and investment for new projects addressing contemporary social issues.
Chile’s audiovisual industry is set to strengthen its global reach at the upcoming Conecta Fiction market. A delegation featuring production companies DeCulto, CUBHO Audiovisual, and Mazal will attend the event to build strategic partnerships and secure foreign investment for their latest fiction projects. This initiative is backed by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Heritage and supported by ProChile. According to Diego Rougier, president of the Association of Film and Television Producers of Chile, this international outreach is essential for the long-term success of local productions.
The projects being presented highlight a focus on contemporary social issues. DeCulto is showcasing two major works: The Craft of Thieves, a thriller directed by Hernán Caffiero about two young people navigating a life of crime in Europe, and Raza Brava, which explores the impact of political violence in Chile through the lens of soccer fan culture. CUBHO Audiovisual will present My Last Stand, a family drama directed by Matías Bize and produced by Isidora Fajardo that focuses on generational reconciliation. Rounding out the group, Mazal is introducing Intensas (Ser o no ser), a series examining the complexities of motherhood in adulthood.
This participation is part of a broader effort by Latin American producers to diversify funding and reach wider audiences in a competitive global market. The strategy will be highlighted at the CinemaChile Inside Content meeting on May 27. By focusing on co-productions, the Chilean industry aims to move beyond its borders, fostering international collaboration while sharing unique local stories with the rest of the world.
