Champions Burger Festival Lands in Canary Islands for First Time
Spain's largest burger festival, The Champions Burger, is set to debut in the Canary Islands with its "Island Edition" in Tenerife, featuring fourteen top restaurants and a public vote to crown the best burger.
The Champions Burger, Spain's biggest burger festival, is coming to the Canary Islands for the first time. It's launching a new "Island Edition" in Tenerife, bringing some of the best burgers from its mainland tour to the island.
From November 27th to December 8th, the Parque Marítimo César Manrique in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will be buzzing with the smell of grilled burgers. Fourteen top restaurants will be there, cooking up their best creations for you to try and vote for. You, the public, will decide who wins the title of "Best Burger in Tenerife."
Entry is free, and everyone, locals and tourists alike, can discover the famous restaurants taking part in The Champions Burger competition. These include Tokio, The Vicbros Burger, Vacarnal, Muralla, El Tarantín Chiflado, Circo, Street Food Burger, Godeo, Rico Burger, and Dak.
They're all heading to Santa Cruz to cook in modern, stylish spaces, serving up creative and bold burger recipes. Each restaurant will compete with a unique burger made just for this event.
Local favourite Sandgüix will also be there, presenting a burger designed to impress the islanders, along with a selection of desserts for those with a sweet tooth.
The "Island Edition" will also feature a special area where well-known food personalities will showcase their own burgers, though these won't be part of the official competition. Among them are Gottan Grill, who won "Best Burger in Spain" and "Best Burger in Europe" in 2024, Moflete by YouTuber Joe Burger, and The Ox by Pablo Cabezali (Cenando con Pablo). Ybarra's French fries will also be available to enjoy with your burgers.
Visitors can expect to taste burgers made with high-quality, certified meats that are juicy and full of flavour. They'll be paired with unique ingredients like black brioche buns with edible gold, or buns filled with mozzarella and coated in Doritos Bits. You'll also find sweet Iberian ham, crispy cured beef, macaroni and cheese croquettes, oxtail and pistachio caramel, and bone marrow mayonnaise.
José Morales, Communications Director for The Champions Burger, said, "After travelling across much of the mainland and sharing our passion for burgers with over 5 million people, we're now bringing The Champions Burger to the Canary Islands for the first time. Tenerife is making history as the host of this festival, bringing together the best chefs and highlighting the creativity and hard work behind every dish."
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the ideal spot for this new edition, thanks to its wide range of entertainment, delicious local food, appeal to tourists, and wonderful climate.
At The Champions Burger, you'll get to try the special burgers created by each restaurant for the competition and then vote for your favourite.
It's easy to vote. Just try a burger, scan the QR code on your ticket when you order, and rate it on things like the bun, the meat, the ingredient combination, presentation, and originality.
The top three burgers will be chosen as the winners for the city, and only one will be crowned the "Best Burger in Tenerife."
The Champions Burger continues to break records, having welcomed over 5 million visitors and 300 burger joints this year, visiting more than 50 locations across 16 regions of Spain. The festival has also started expanding internationally, with a special event in Paris attracting over 220,000 people in October.
Currently, the grand final for "Best Burger in Spain" is taking place in the Community of Madrid. Following that, the "Best Burger in Europe" will be decided in Barcelona. From November 26th to December 8th, the top burgers from the national competition, along with excellent creations from various European countries, will compete for the title, further showcasing the festival's international reach and the global talent of its chefs and creators.
The Champions Burger has been running for 8 years and is now the largest burger festival of its kind. Its success has helped new, specialised burger restaurants emerge, raising the bar for quality, creativity, and sophistication in this popular food.
The organisers are also committed to the environment. In each city, they provide special bins for recycling reusable cups, helping to reduce waste and encourage the use of sustainable materials.
