CD Tenerife stands on the brink of promotion to the Second Division this Friday, triggering city-wide celebrations and extensive fan events across the island.

CD Tenerife could secure a return to professional football this Friday, May 1st, sparking a wave of excitement across the island’s capital. The club’s promotion to the Second Division depends on their own performance and the result of the match between Celta Fortuna and Osasuna Promesas.

Álvaro Cervera’s team will be watching the 3:15 PM match at Pasarón closely. If the Vigo reserve team slips up, Tenerife will be mathematically promoted before they even take the pitch at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium. Regardless of the outcome in Galicia, the club has prepared for a city-wide celebration.

Tickets for the 6:00 PM match against Barakaldo are completely sold out. Fans without tickets can watch the game on Televisión Canaria, RTVC Play, LaLiga+, FootballClub, or Movistar Plus+.

To manage the crowds, a fan zone will be open at Plaza José Antonio Barrios Olivero from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM, featuring food and entertainment. The Federation of Supporters' Clubs has also organized a team bus welcome at Gate 17 of the stadium at 3:45 PM. Authorities are advising fans to arrive early to avoid traffic delays.

The event has become a major community milestone. The Island Council, the club, and the regional broadcaster are setting up a giant screen in the Plaza de España for fans to watch the match together. If the team succeeds, the City Council has arranged for a double-decker bus to carry the squad through the streets of Santa Cruz to celebrate with supporters. This promotion highlights the significant social and economic boost that returning to the second tier would bring to the island.
