Spanish actress Cayetana Guillén Cuervo will be the "godmother" of the 20th Tijera – La Orotava Short Film Festival, presenting the best short film award at the November 8th finale.

Madrid actress Cayetana Guillén Cuervo will be the special guest ("godmother") at the 20th Tijera – La Orotava Short Film Festival.

In 2025, she'll present the award for the best short film at the festival's final event on November 8th, held at Cines Yelmo La Villa in La Orotava.

Cayetana joins a long list of famous actors and filmmakers who've supported the festival, including Imanol Arias and Antonio Resines.

Tickets for all festival events will soon be available on the website: www.festivalcortosorotava.com. The 2025 festival will also feature its usual "Off Section," with additional film-related activities. The festival is organized by Cinenfoque, along with the La Orotava City Council, the Canary Islands Government, the Island Council of Tenerife, and various private sponsors.

Cayetana Guillén Cuervo is a well-known Spanish actress, journalist, and TV personality. She comes from a family of famous actors, Fernando Guillén and Gemma Cuervo, who helped shape the cultural landscape in Spain.

Since 2022, she's been the head of the Academy of Performing Arts of Spain, promoting culture and the arts. For over 20 years, she's hosted "Versión Española" on TVE, a program dedicated to Spanish and Latin American cinema that has received the Medal of Merit in Fine Arts. She also hosts "Atención Obras," a cultural program on the same channel.

In theater, she's starred in both classic and modern plays, including recent productions like "Puertas Abiertas" and "Hedda Gabler."

She's worked with famous directors like José Luis Garci and Pedro Almodóvar in film.

On TV, she's had many successful roles, including in the popular series "El Ministerio del Tiempo."

She started her radio career with Iñaki Gabilondo, whom she considers her mentor, and later hosted the program "A vivir, que son dos días."

Cayetana is a strong advocate for equality and women in the arts. She uses her career to promote these values and represents a connection between tradition and modern culture.

She's also committed to social causes, working with charities like Ayuda en Acción and Fundación Vicente Ferrer.

This year, on November 6th, the festival will screen short films from the Canary Islands. On November 7th, the first awards for the main competition will be given out, with the remaining awards presented on November 8th. Cayetana Guillén Cuervo will be there to present the awards on the final day.
