Casañas Trio, Capote Win Top Fotonoviembre Photography Awards

The 11th Fotonoviembre Regional Contest of Informative and Documentary Photography held its awards ceremony in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with Roferas by Roberto Casañas Afonso, Jesús Yagüe Suárez, and Jesús Acosta Casañas winning the top series prize, and Filiberto Capote Martín taking first for his individual photo Luz entre cenizas.

The awards ceremony for the 11th Fotonoviembre Regional Contest of Informative and Documentary Photography took place this Friday at the García Sanabria Park Art Room in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

This year, the top prize in the series category went to Roberto Casañas Afonso, Jesús Yagüe Suárez, and Jesús Acosta Casañas for their work Roferas. Luz María Sosa Contreras received second prize for Días sin luz. For individual photos, Filiberto Capote Martín (also known as Félix Capote) won first prize for Luz entre cenizas. Fran Pallero, a photojournalist for DIARIO DE AVISOS, took second place with Salto, muelle de Valleseco.

The Fotonoviembre contest began in 2005. Its goal is to highlight documentary photography as a way to communicate important social messages and share news about current events in the Canary Islands with the public. This year, the first-place winner in the photographic series category receives 1,500 euros, while the second-place winner gets 1,000 euros. In the individual photography category, the first prize is 800 euros, and the second prize is 600 euros.
