Carrera por la Vida Reschedules Charity Walk Due to General Election
The Carrera por la Vida Foundation has rescheduled its annual charity walk in Tenerife to November 22 to avoid conflicting with the general election on November 29.
The upcoming general election on November 29 has forced the Carrera por la Vida Foundation to reschedule its annual charity walk in southern Tenerife. The event will now take place on Sunday, November 22, to avoid clashing with voting day.
This change has created significant logistical challenges, requiring the foundation to reorganize travel arrangements for attendees and coordinate new schedules for performers and services. Brigitte Gypen, head of the foundation, acknowledged that the team is working under pressure to maintain the event’s high standards, especially for those who had already booked travel to the island. Despite these setbacks, Gypen emphasized that the foundation’s commitment to raising breast cancer awareness and advocating for research funding remains the priority. The walk will still begin at the Siam Mall, serving as a vital gathering point for patients, families, and supporters.
The foundation is also moving forward with its other planned activities. On October 23, the Infanta Leonor Auditorium in Los Cristianos will host a gala to honor the project’s collaborators. The event is free to attend, and invitations can be requested through the foundation’s website.
This situation highlights how national political shifts can disrupt large-scale community events. However, thanks to the flexibility of suppliers and partners, the foundation has managed to avoid cancellation, ensuring that this important tradition continues to support those affected by breast cancer and promote the importance of early detection.
