Carrera por la Vida Awards Gala to Honor Breast Cancer Champions
The Carrera por la Vida Canarian Foundation will honor individuals and organizations making a difference in breast cancer awareness and support at its annual awards gala this Friday in Adeje.
The Carrera por la Vida Canarian Foundation is putting the final touches on its annual awards gala, happening this Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Adeje Auditorium.
For the third year running, the event will celebrate people and organizations that are making a real difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer, and who are helping to spread the word about the importance of early detection.
This year's winners include:
- Media Award: The DIARIO DE AVISOS Foundation, for their ongoing commitment to raising awareness about breast cancer. Priscila González, Director of Projects of the Foundation, will be there to accept the award.
- Medical Field: Dr. Isabel Rubio Rodríguez, Director of the Breast Pathology Unit of the Clínica de la Universidad de Navarra in Madrid, a leading expert in breast surgery and the first female president of the European Society of Surgical Oncology.
- Corporate Social Responsibility: CaixaBank and Fundación La Caixa, for their commitment to social responsibility.
- Social Action: The Spanish Association Against Cancer and the Tenerife Breast Cancer Association (Ámate) will jointly receive the award.
- Sports: The Pedaleando por la Vida cycling initiative.
To mark 20 years since the first charity walk in Santa Cruz (which started the Carrera por la Vida), a special award will also be given to the photographers who have covered the event over the past two decades.
Brigitte Gypen, president of the Carrera por la Vida Foundation, said the awards are "a recognition of the essential initiatives and partnerships that allow us to continue our work. They represent our gratitude to the people and actions that improve the quality of life for women and men with breast cancer and their families."
After the awards, the Foundation will be gearing up for its main event, the Carrera por la Vida, on November 30th. This event will bring together thousands in the South to wrap up a year of fundraising. In 2025, the Foundation will launch its Pink Scholarships, funding the training of 14 professionals.
