Retired badminton champion Carolina Marín shared insights on resilience and overcoming adversity during a public talk titled "Luck Doesn't Come Alone" at the Teatro Leal in San Cristóbal de La Laguna.

Since retiring from professional badminton last March, Carolina Marín has moved beyond the court to focus on sharing the values she learned throughout her career. During a recent visit to San Cristóbal de La Laguna, the Huelva native took to the stage at the Teatro Leal for a talk titled "Luck Doesn't Come Alone," an event organized by the local City Council and the Autonomous Sports Organization (OAD).

The event highlighted Marín’s unique ability to speak about overcoming adversity—a central theme of her life as an athlete. Beyond her impressive record, which includes three world championships (2014, 2015, and 2018) and an Olympic gold medal in 2016, her career was defined by a persistent battle against serious injuries. During the talk, she reflected on the uncertainty elite athletes face when they are sidelined and the fear of never returning to their previous level of performance.

The event, which included an official reception by Mayor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez and OAD President Badel Albelo, also emphasized the importance of family support in building a successful career. Moderated by journalist Fátima Febles, the discussion focused on how Marín’s true legacy is not found in her medals, but in the integrity and passion she brought to every stage of her life. With this new focus on sports education and sharing her story of resilience, Marín has officially begun a new chapter after her competitive career.
