Filmmaker Carlos Iglesias will present his latest film, "La bala," followed by a discussion with actress Eloísa Vargas, this Friday at 7:00 PM at Multicines Tenerife as part of the 5th Tenerife Spanish Film Showcase.

The 5th Tenerife Spanish Film Showcase offers another chance this Friday in La Laguna to meet filmmaker Carlos Iglesias. This follows Thursday's opening, which featured his directorial debut, "Un franco, 14 pesetas" (2017). At 7:00 PM, Multicines Tenerife will screen his latest film, "La bala." This emotional thriller, based on true events, was written, directed, and stars Iglesias himself, exploring historical memory from a personal viewpoint. After the screening, Iglesias and actress Eloísa Vargas, who also appears in the film, will hold a discussion.

The showcase is organized by the Charlas de Cine Cultural Association, the University of La Laguna (ULL), and ALDA Producciones. Entry is free until all seats are taken. It receives support from the La Laguna City Council's Department of Culture and the regional government, through the Canary Islands Institute for Cultural Development and Canary Islands Film. This event is also part of the ULL's "For Freedom, Spain after 1975" program.

On Saturday, the program continues with Fernando Colomo's "Los años bárbaros" (1998) at 12:30 PM, followed by a Q&A with the director. Later that day, at 7:00 PM, there will be a screening of Antonia San Juan's short film "La paciente desconocida de Freud" (2025) and "Las delicias del jardín" (2025), which also features Colomo. The showcase wraps up on Sunday at 7:00 PM with Pablo Vilas's short film "Las cosas queridas" (2022). This will be followed by the film "Lugares comunes" (2002) and a discussion with Mercedes Sampietro, who is the showcase's guest of honor.
