Construction of Candelaria’s new 500-seat Municipal Auditorium is 23% complete, with the 8.46 million euro project slated to open in November 2027 to revitalize the town's cultural infrastructure.

Candelaria is undergoing a major cultural transformation as construction of its new Municipal Auditorium reaches the 23% completion mark. Built on the site of the former Los Menceyes bus station, the project is funded primarily by the Tenerife Island Council with a budget of 8.46 million euros. It aims to solve a long-standing issue in the town: the lack of venues capable of hosting more than 150 people.

More than just a building, the auditorium is designed to revitalize the local arts scene. Following a four-month extension, the project is now scheduled for completion by November 16, 2027. The facility will feature a 500-seat main hall, a stage house, and dressing rooms. Mayor Mari Brito noted that the design was developed in consultation with local cultural groups and includes a dedicated wing for musical training, complete with classrooms, a library, and multipurpose spaces.

Building in a busy urban center has required careful logistical planning. Work is currently focused on the metal framework; the seating area trusses are already in place, and the stage structure is expected to be installed in early September. Since construction began in July 2025, the team has navigated minor site-related challenges, including a small budget adjustment approved in June.

Beyond the performing arts, the project also addresses local parking needs with a new lot accessible from Crugiola Street. By building this facility, Candelaria aims to host larger events and support the decentralization of culture across Tenerife. Mayor Brito described the auditorium as a long-awaited milestone that will provide local artists with the modern, professional space they need to grow.
