The town of Candelaria in Tenerife is getting ready to celebrate the feast of the Virgin of Carmen this Thursday, July 16. Local officials say the event is a chance to honor the town’s seafaring roots by combining religious tradition with community fun.

The festivities begin at 7:00 p.m. with a church service at the Santa Ana parish. Afterward, the celebration moves to the Plaza de Los Pescadores for a street party featuring music from the Banda Cepillao, the Columbia Orchestra, and DJ Chris G.

Manuel González, the head of the Festivals department, noted that the event is an important way to bring the community together, blending the town’s fishing history with the spirit of the summer season.

To make things easier for those attending, the council is selling tickets for food and drinks. Sardines will be available for 2 euros per portion, and drinks will cost 1 euro each. To modernize the process, attendees can pay with either cash or card. This celebration remains a key date on the island’s calendar, helping to keep local traditions alive while bringing residents and visitors together.
