Candelaria Pizzeria Launches Basilica-Inspired 'La Patrona' Pizza
Candelaria pizzeria La Barchetta is celebrating local heritage with "La Patrona," a limited-edition pizza shaped like the town's famous basilica and topped with traditional Canary Islands ingredients until August 16th.
Food is becoming a powerful way to celebrate local culture in Candelaria, thanks to a creative new project at the pizzeria La Barchetta. As highlighted by content creator @soydududog, the restaurant has introduced a limited-edition pizza called "La Patrona," which blends Italian tradition with unique Canary Islands ingredients.
What makes this pizza special is its design. Instead of a standard flat crust, the dough is shaped into a dome topped with a bread cross, mimicking the silhouette of the Basilica of Candelaria. The flavor profile is just as thoughtful, featuring a base of almogrote and mozzarella, topped with arugula, capocollo, smoked cheese, and palm honey, all finished with a garlic and black pepper focaccia crust.
This creation is part of a growing trend of "signature gastronomy," where chefs use local products to honor the history and religious heritage of their community. Because it is a special, temporary offering, it will only be available until August 16th.
Located at 14 Plaza de La Patrona, the restaurant currently holds a 4.5-star rating online. It is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 1:00 PM to 12:00 AM, and Friday through Sunday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 AM. The restaurant is closed on Wednesdays. This initiative shows how dining can be more than just a meal; it is a way to revitalize local history and offer customers a meaningful experience rooted in identity.
