Pizzeria La Barchetta in Candelaria has launched "La Patrona," a limited-edition, three-dimensional pizza inspired by the local Basilica that blends Canarian ingredients with Italian culinary techniques.

In Candelaria, Pizzeria La Barchetta is redefining food as a form of cultural expression with its latest limited-time creation, "La Patrona." As highlighted by content creator @soydududog, this unique dish blends Canarian tradition with Italian culinary techniques through an edible, architectural design.

Available only until August 16th, the pizza breaks away from traditional flat styles to feature a three-dimensional structure. The top layer, made using a focaccia technique, is shaped to resemble the dome of the Basilica of Candelaria and is topped with a bread cross, serving as a tribute to the temple that houses the archipelago’s patron saint.

The recipe balances local flavors with Italian staples. It combines Canarian almogrote and palm honey with Italian capocollo, smoked cheese, and mozzarella. This mix of savory cured meats and sweet honey has become a talking point for visitors at the restaurant, located at 14 Plaza de La Patrona.

The pizzeria, which holds a 4.5-star rating online, has adjusted its hours to accommodate the special offer. It is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 1:00 PM to midnight, and from 9:00 AM on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The restaurant is closed on Wednesdays.

This initiative is part of a growing trend known as "narrative gastronomy," where restaurants use local ingredients to connect diners with their region's history and heritage. By merging the iconography of the Basilica with Mediterranean cuisine, La Barchetta demonstrates how dining can serve as a way to celebrate and share local culture.
