Candelaria City Council announced a €1.5 million renovation project for several streets in Las Caletillas, aiming to modernize public spaces and upgrade infrastructure, with bids open until December 14.

Yesterday, Candelaria City Council announced major renovation work for several streets in the heart of Las Caletillas: Fayna, Punta del Rey, Tenesedra, Acaymo, Agarfa, Armiche, and Avenida Marítima. The goal is to completely update this part of the town.

Mayor Mari Brito stressed that improving public spaces is a top priority for the council. This is to provide residents and visitors with more accessible, modern, and practical areas.

The project is currently open for bids and has a budget of 1,499,088 euros, including taxes.

The work involves upgrading the water supply and checking the sewage system. It will also replace the current combined rainwater system with a more efficient separate one.

The area will also get a landscape upgrade, and lighting, low voltage, and telecommunications cables will be moved underground.

Companies interested can submit their bids until Monday, December 14, at 11:59 PM via the Public Sector Contracting Platform. The full terms and conditions are also available there.

The City Council will pay for the project using its own funds, from municipal savings. This was approved at a full council meeting on August 4, along with other projects that will gradually be put out to tender.

These future projects include upgrading the Los Asomaderos Rural Road, building inclusive parks in Alsaca and Araya, and various works at Playa La Viuda, including renovating Calle del Agua and improving sports and community facilities.

During the recent San Andrés festivities, the Las Cuevecitas Festival Committee and Candelaria City Council honoured Orquesta Tenerife. This group, founded in 1961 in the town by Abilio Alonso, Alipio Fariña, Eliseo Machín, Nito Fariña, Bernardo Alayón, Ciro Tejera, and José Fariña, has a 64-year history.

The tribute took place recently in Las Cuevecitas Square, bringing together family, friends, and neighbours. A video filled with memories and stories from the group's long career was shown during the event.
