Twin brothers David and Javier Marrero from Tenerife have achieved top-tier results in the 2026 University Entrance Exam, securing their academic futures through a collaborative approach to learning.

Twins David and Javier Marrero have made headlines in the Canary Islands after achieving outstanding results in the 2026 University Entrance Exam (PAU). Both students from IES Mencey Acaymo in Güímar ranked among the top thirty academic performers in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, proving that their success is about more than just individual talent.

David earned a score of 13.965—the highest in the province—while his brother Javier followed closely with a 13.729. With scores nearing the maximum of 14, both brothers have secured their place in any university program in the country, bypassing the stress of competitive cutoff grades.

Their success highlights the power of collaborative learning. While David focused on mathematics, a field increasingly vital in the age of artificial intelligence, Javier leaned toward the humanities, pursuing a double degree in Law and International Relations. Throughout their final years of secondary school, the brothers acted as a support system for one another, trading technical and linguistic expertise to sharpen their preparation.

Their journey also reflects the difficult choices high-achieving students face after graduation. David is considering the University of La Laguna (ULL) for its proximity to home, while Javier plans to move to Madrid to pursue his studies. It is a common dilemma for top students: balancing specialized opportunities and career prospects against the comfort of their family environment.

The recognition of their results at the University of La Laguna highlights the value of public education. Maintaining a perfect average throughout their final years and replicating that success in their entrance exams is a testament to their hard work and the effective study habits they developed together at home.
