Canary Islands to Acquire Land for Decades-Delayed Ofra-El Chorrillo Road
The Canary Islands Government plans to acquire 20 properties across 12,200 square meters in La Laguna and Santa Cruz de Tenerife to complete the long-delayed Ofra-El Chorrillo road, a 6.5 million euro project awarded to Señalizaciones Villar for 18 months.
The Canary Islands Government plans to acquire about 20 properties, covering a total area of 12,200 square meters. This land is needed to finish sections B and C of the planned Ofra-El Chorrillo road. This new road will connect the TF-5 highway between Tres de Mayo Avenue and Guajara.
Of the total land, 9,748 square meters are in the municipality of La Laguna, and 2,451 square meters are in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Most of these land acquisitions, which the Department of Public Works is overseeing, are on rural land next to undeveloped urban areas. These plans will now be open for public review. Notably, some of this land, located in the capital's district, belongs to the Ministry of Defense.
The project, which has been delayed for nearly 30 years, has been awarded to Señalizaciones Villar. The contract is worth 6.5 million euros, and the work is expected to take 18 months to complete.
Once finished, the road will link Ofra with El Draguillo, passing through the roundabout where Príncipes de España Avenue and El Rosario road meet.
