Canary Islands Surf Film Festival Returns to La Laguna for 2026 Edition
The Canary Islands Surf Film Festival returns to San Cristóbal de La Laguna from June 26 to 28, 2026, featuring a diverse program of cinema, wellness workshops, and marine conservation initiatives.
Ocean culture is returning to the spotlight as the Canary Islands Surf Film Festival (CSFF) prepares for its 2026 debut. Now in its fourteenth year, the festival will be held at the Convent of Santo Domingo in San Cristóbal de La Laguna from June 26 to 28. More than just a film screening, the event has become a key gathering place for the local community, athletes, and filmmakers.
The festival’s program highlights its growth, blending film with science, wellness, and local business. Supported by the Government of the Canary Islands and private partners like Canaauto and Cerveza Águila, the event will feature the "Sea Market," along with photography and equipment displays that showcase the importance of the islands' maritime industry.
The film lineup is the heart of the festival, featuring titles such as Kingdom of the Evening, Spaghetti Week, Antártida, and Big Vs Small. These films cover a wide range of topics, from the history of surfing in Gran Canaria to environmental conservation.
Beyond the screen, the festival offers a variety of activities:
- Health and Wellness: Dermatologist Nuria Marrero will lead sessions on skin cancer prevention, while experts like Andrea Marcos, Pedro Sicilia, and Sandra Pitters will host yoga workshops.
- Sports and Music: Attendees can participate in skate and surfskate workshops, accompanied by live music from artists including Mutable, Just Beca, and Candela.
- Marine Awareness: Felipe Ravina will present the Nika project, highlighting the festival’s focus on documentary storytelling and marine protection.
By returning to La Laguna, the CSFF continues to serve as a vital cultural hub, promoting Atlantic identity and sustainability through contemporary film.
