
Canary Islands Search For Person Swept To Sea Amid Storm Emilia
A rescue helicopter and emergency services are searching for a person possibly swept out to sea at La Arenita beach in Arona, Canary Islands, amid severe weather from Storm Emilia.
A rescue helicopter from the Canary Islands government is searching for a person who may have been swept out to sea at La Arenita beach, near El Palmar in Arona.
Emergency services (112 Canarias) reported that they received several calls on Friday afternoon about a person falling into the sea.
Maritime Rescue, firefighters, and other security forces are also involved in the search.
The Canary Islands have been on alert since Friday due to bad weather from Storm Emilia. The storm has brought heavy rain, strong winds, rough seas, and large waves across the archipelago. It was expected to bring up to 100 litres of rain per square meter over twelve hours, wind gusts of 70 to 100 km/h, and waves as high as 9 meters.
