Tenerife-based publisher Diego Pun Ediciones has released four new children's and young adult titles designed to serve as educational tools for fostering critical thinking and preserving Canary Islands heritage in the classroom.

Children’s and young adult literature from the Canary Islands is gaining fresh momentum following the release of four new titles from the Tenerife-based publisher Diego Pun Ediciones. According to the publisher, these books are designed to do more than just grow the regional catalog; they are intended as practical teaching tools for the new school year, complete with guides to help students improve their reading skills and critical thinking.

The collection stands out for its mix of established authors and emerging creative talent. The new titles focus on themes relevant to growing up: Cristina García Carballo and illustrator Javier Nóbrega explore identity and social responsibility, while Lola Suárez and illustrator Lana Corujo use mystery and emotional intrigue to look at the challenges of adolescence.

Environmental issues and local heritage are also central to this release. Yolanda Díaz Jiménez and illustrator Saru Hernández present a fable about protecting the environment and resisting the exploitation of natural resources. Additionally, a new volume by Pepa Aurora, Cecilia Domínguez Luis, and Ernesto Rodríguez Abad—illustrated by Nareme Melián—brings together the archipelago’s oral traditions to help preserve the islands' collective memory.

This launch reflects a growing trend in Spanish publishing: a stronger connection between literature and the classroom. By providing these educational resources, Diego Pun Ediciones is offering teachers a way to explore complex ethical and social issues with their students, ensuring that literature serves as a powerful tool for developing reflective thinking in young readers.
