Canary Islands Offer Cool Refuge as Mainland Spain Faces Extreme Heat
The Canary Islands are experiencing mild summer weather, providing a cool refuge from the extreme heat currently affecting mainland Spain.
While much of mainland Europe and the Iberian Peninsula battle extreme heat, the Canary Islands are currently enjoying a much milder climate. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the islands remain stable, offering a cool contrast to the intense temperatures seen elsewhere in Spain.
The forecast for this Thursday shows mostly clear skies across the archipelago, with some low cloud cover expected in the north during the early morning and late evening. On the islands with higher terrain, there is a slight chance of light rain early in the day.
In Tenerife, conditions will remain steady, with temperatures peaking at 28°C—consistent with recent days. Light to moderate winds from the north are expected, along with a small chance of light rain, mainly in the northeast.
This pleasant weather is typical for the Canary Islands during the summer. Thanks to the cooling effect of the Atlantic Ocean and the steady trade winds, the archipelago acts as a natural refuge, staying comfortable while the mainland faces soaring temperatures.
