The 42nd International Music Festival of the Canary Islands concludes this week with final performances by acclaimed pianist Arcadi Volodos and five-time Grammy-winning jazz group Snarky Puppy.

The 42nd International Music Festival of the Canary Islands (FIMC), which started on January 8, wraps up this week. The festival has showcased a wide range of music, from classical to modern jazz. To close out the event, acclaimed pianist Arcadi Volodos and the American band Snarky Puppy are set to perform.

Renowned pianist Arcadi Volodos will give two recitals, both starting at 7:30 PM. His first performance is on Thursday at the Auditorio de Tenerife, followed by a second on Saturday at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Volodos's program features works by Frédéric Chopin, including a selection of mazurkas (Op. 33 No. 4, Op. 41 No. 2, Op. 63 No. 2), the Prelude Op. 45, and Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor, Op. 35 (which contains the famous Funeral March). After a break, he will play Franz Schubert's Sonata in B-flat major D. 960. Tickets are priced from 15 to 40 euros and can be bought at the venues or on the festival's website. To enhance the experience, Ricardo Ducatenzeiler will host free introductory talks an hour before each concert. Volodos, a Russian-born pianist who now lives in Spain, last played in the Canary Islands in 2020. His career began in the 1990s.

The festival's #EnParalelo series will wrap up with two concerts from Snarky Puppy, the five-time Grammy-winning contemporary jazz group. They will perform with the Dutch Metropole Orkest, a collaboration that previously earned them a Grammy a decade ago. This time, they will present their new joint project, Somni. The first concert is on Friday at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and the second is on Saturday at the Auditorio de Tenerife. Both shows start at 7:30 PM. Any remaining tickets can be found on the festival's website and through the auditoriums' own ticket platforms.
