
Canary Islands Music Awards Unveil 43 Nominees
The 7th Canary Islands Music Awards announced 43 nominees across 15 categories, including Valeria Castro and Quevedo, with the ceremony set for December 3rd at the Leal Theater.
The jury for the 7th Canary Islands Music Awards announced its 43 nominees on Monday. These were selected from 418 entries across 15 categories. The awards ceremony will take place on December 3rd at the Leal Theater in La Laguna. It's organized by the Canary Islands Music Awards Association and Radio Canaria, with support from the regional government, La Laguna City Council, and the Leal Theater, plus sponsorship from various other groups.
"La chica de la puerta" by Said Muti and Tarque, "El borde del mundo" by Valeria Castro, and "Extraterrestres del amor" by Xerach are up for Song of the Year. For Best Pop Album, the nominees are Ale Acosta with "El porvenir," Fajardo with "Trecho," and Pedro Guerra with "Parceiros, vol. 2." The Best Jazz Album category includes Maires (Alexis Alonso and Jorge Pardo), Collabs (Carlos Meneses), and Maravijazz (JC Machado, JM Méndez, and Augusto Báez). Nominees for Best Urban Music Album are Cruz Cafuné ("blu€s (d€lux€)"), Quevedo ("Buenas noches"), and Resonance ("Valediction").
For Best Roots Music Album, the nominees are Abora Project ("Abora Project"), Julia Rodríguez ("Hacia la vida"), and Mestizo ("Tabaiba"). Baldosa ("Queriendo igual"), Naife ("Untitled"), and Said Muti ("Criminales del sueño") are nominated for Best Rock Album.
Julia Rodríguez, Naife, and Nia are hoping to win Revelation Artist. In the Best Classical Music Work category, the nominees are Laura Vega, the Maestro Valle University Orchestra, and the Philharmonic Society of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Gromer Records, Jesiisma, and Superstereo Recording Studio are nominated for Best Recording Studio. Alberto Naranja Méndez, Hilario Benítez, and Juan Jesús Guedes (Ñoki) are up for Best Sound Engineer.
Nominees for the Promotional Work award include the publisher Los 80 Pasan Factura, Musicafé Podcast, and the program Somos 8 from Televisión Española in the Canary Islands. For Best Design, the nominees are Adrián M. Ferrer and Rubén Acosta (for Ale Acosta's "El Porvenir"), Ariana Pérez (for Laura Henríquez's "Lo que tengo que contar"), and Carlos Arocha (for Said Muti's "Criminales del sueño"). In the Best Music Video category, the nominations go to Alejandro González (for Rockaria's "Ya no volveré a llorar por ti"), Maite Artajo (for Julia Rodríguez's "Marioneta de la luna ft. Fabiola"), and Said Muti and Alejandro González (for Said Muti's "Tu puñal en la espalda"). El Hierro's Herofest, LPA Beer & Music Festival, and the Leal Theater are nominated for Best Programming.
