Canary Islands Ministry Awards Contract to Repair IES Cruz Santa Roof
The Canary Islands Ministry of Education has awarded a 191,959-euro contract to Impermeabilizaciones Teide S.L. to repair the leaking roof at IES Cruz Santa in Tenerife over the next five months.
The Canary Islands Ministry of Education has officially awarded a contract to repair the roof of IES Cruz Santa in Los Realejos, Tenerife. The project, valued at 191,959.07 euros (including taxes), will be carried out by the company Impermeabilizaciones Teide S.L.
These repairs address long-standing structural issues that have worsened due to recent poor weather, which exposed the building's vulnerability to rain. A lack of regular maintenance has caused the roof to leak, forcing the school to close off several areas. Iván G. Carro, Director General of Educational Infrastructure and Equipment, stated that this project is part of a wider effort to fix maintenance backlogs across the region’s public schools and protect electrical and structural systems from further damage.
The work is expected to take five months to complete. Notably, the winning contractor has offered a four-year warranty extension on materials beyond the standard requirement, providing extra long-term security for the school.
This project is about more than just fixing leaks; it is essential for restoring a safe and functional learning environment. By repairing the damage caused by humidity, the school will be able to reopen closed spaces and return to normal operations. Prioritizing these waterproofing projects is now a key part of the Ministry’s strategy to prevent premature building decay and ensure that schools remain open and safe regardless of the weather.
