Source: El Día

The State Meteorological Agency lifted the last yellow alert for coastal conditions across the Canary Islands on Sunday, January 4th, though lingering effects of Storm Francis bring moderate rain to northern Tenerife and strong gusts to other islands.

Storm Francis is moving towards the mainland, but its final effects are being felt on the Canary Islands. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) lifted the yellow alert for coastal conditions early on Sunday, January 4th, at 3 AM, across most of the islands. Fuerteventura and Lanzarote had their alerts lifted a few hours later. This was the last remaining weather alert.

On Tenerife, Sunday will see a slight drop in high temperatures, expected to be between 16 and 21 degrees Celsius. There's a possibility of frost on the higher parts of Teide. The north of the island can expect mostly cloudy skies with moderate rain, especially in the mid-altitudes, where it might be persistent.

Here's Aemet's detailed weather forecast for Sunday:

Tenerife: Mostly cloudy in the north, with moderate rain expected, more frequent in mid-altitudes where it could be persistent. Elsewhere, there will be cloudy spells with a low chance of light, scattered rain. The southeast slope will become cloudier in the afternoon, making rain more likely there. Temperatures will see few changes, though highs in the north may drop slightly, with a chance of light frost on Teide's peaks. Northwest winds will bring strong gusts to the southwest slopes, with a chance of very strong local gusts. In the central peaks, strong northwest winds are expected, possibly very strong locally, easing during the second half of the day. Expected temperatures for Santa Cruz de Tenerife: 16°C (min) / 21°C (max)

La Gomera: Mostly cloudy in the north and west, with a chance of light, scattered rain. Elsewhere, cloudy spells with a possibility of light, scattered rain. Expected temperatures for San Sebastián de La Gomera: 16°C (min) / 21°C (max)

La Palma: Mostly cloudy in the north and west, with light to moderate rain expected, more frequent and possibly persistent in the mid-altitudes of the northwest. Other areas will have cloudy spells with a chance of light, scattered rain. Temperatures will see few changes. Moderate northwest winds will bring strong gusts at dawn to the peaks, northeast slopes, and southwest-facing areas, with a small chance of very strong local gusts.
