The CajaCanarias Foundation is hosting the tenth edition of the Ars Organorum concert series across Tenerife this November to promote the preservation of the Canary Islands' historical keyboard instruments.

The Canary Islands are celebrating a milestone in preserving their musical heritage with the tenth edition of Ars Organorum. Organized by the CajaCanarias Foundation, in partnership with the Royal Canarian Academy of Fine Arts and the Diocese of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, the series aims to do more than just provide entertainment; it seeks to protect the archipelago’s historical keyboard instruments, which are often overlooked in cultural preservation efforts.

The program features four free recitals held throughout November in various Tenerife parishes:

  • November 7: Belgian organist Bernard Foccroulle at the parish of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción (La Orotava).
  • November 13: Joan Boronat Sanz at the parish of San Juan Bautista (Arico).
  • November 19: Michel Bouvard and Yasuko Uyama-Bouvard at the parish of San Juan Bautista (La Orotava).
  • November 27: Andrea Marcon at the parish of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes de Roja (El Médano).

In addition to these concerts, the CajaCanarias Foundation’s Cultural Autumn series includes two theatrical performances this Saturday. At 12:00 p.m. in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Xip Xap company will present Sé tortuga, a family-friendly play about the fast pace of modern life. Meanwhile, at 11:00 a.m. in the capital of La Palma, Adrián Conde will perform Check Out, a show blending magic and physical comedy.

Admission to the La Palma event is free until capacity is reached. The Tenerife performance is also free, though tickets are in high demand and nearly sold out. Further details on all events can be found on the foundation’s website.
