Canary Islands International Reggae Festival Returns to Tenerife for 12th Edition

The 12th Canary Islands International Reggae Festival is returning to Tenerife with a program that goes well beyond a standard concert series. Supported by the La Laguna City Council, the Government of the Canary Islands, and the Island Council of Tenerife, this year’s event focuses on the theme "Caring for the Nest," aiming to weave Jamaican music more deeply into the local community.

The festival kicks off on August 6 in Bajamar with the "Reggae Can Dub Party." This opening event celebrates the roots of reggae through sound system culture and vinyl records. The lineup features Lasai, Rootikal Bass Sound System, Narfyah, Warrior E, Sister Souto, and the B Side Room collective. Attendees can also participate in "The Art of Balance," a workshop that uses circus arts and movement to encourage creativity across all ages.

On August 7 and 8, the festival moves to the Punta del Hidalgo Football Field for its main performances. The stage will host a mix of national and international talent, including Green Valley, General Levy, Mo’Kalamity, Dactah Chando, Isa Izquierdo, Sumerr, Unruly Youth, Javadub, and Warrior E.

The festival places a strong emphasis on sustainability and education. The "Reggae Can Lab" will provide a space for local artists to experiment and develop their craft, while family-friendly activities ensure the event is accessible to everyone. All festival activities are free to the public, subject to venue capacity. Through this initiative, organizers hope to establish the Canary Islands as a key destination on the European reggae circuit, while maintaining a focus on environmental responsibility and community engagement.
