Canary Islands Independent Film Festival Concludes This Weekend in La Laguna
The Canary Islands International Independent and Auteur Film Festival concludes this Saturday in La Laguna, celebrating independent cinema and fostering connections between local filmmakers and industry professionals.
The Canary Islands International Independent and Auteur Film Festival (Ficindie) concludes this weekend, further cementing the region's growing reputation for film events. The festival will wrap up this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the El Desleal Cultural Hall in La Laguna, where winners will be announced for an edition that highlighted a wide range of creative formats.
More than just a film showcase, the festival serves as a hub for connecting local filmmakers with the business community. This morning, the festival hosted a networking event at the Hotel Nivaria in partnership with AJE Tenerife. The session featured screenwriter and author Tirso Calero, who used the platform to present his latest work, Winner & Thompson.
The jury will announce winners across four categories: International Feature Film, International Short Film, Canary Islands Film, and Student Film. The closing ceremony is free to the public, subject to venue capacity, and will be attended by La Laguna’s Councilors for Tourism and Culture, María Estefanía Díaz and Dailos González.
In addition to honoring the 19 selected filmmakers, the ceremony will feature a musical performance by Desirée López Jal-Ladi. With industry professionals like producer Jairo Ramos and filmmaker David Benito del Olmo in attendance, Ficindie continues to establish itself as a vital platform for independent cinema in the Canary Islands.
