Canary Islands Health Service Launches Mobile Blood Drive Campaign

The Canary Islands Health Service has launched a series of mobile blood drives across Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote to maintain essential medical supplies.

The Canary Islands' healthcare system relies heavily on regular blood donations to function. Because human blood cannot be manufactured, the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) depends on a steady supply of donors to support surgeries, cancer treatments, and emergency care. To keep the system self-sufficient, officials urge residents to donate at least twice a year, as each donation can help multiple patients.

To make donating easier, the SCS has organized a series of mobile blood drives across the islands for the coming week:

Tenerife Mobile units will visit several shopping centers, including Añaza (Monday), Alcampo La Laguna (Tuesday), and Meridiano (Wednesday). Other locations include San Juan de la Rambla (Monday), the Nuestra Señora de África Market (July 1st), the El Rosario Agricultural Market (Thursday), and the Plaza de la Catedral in La Laguna (Friday and Saturday). Los Realejos will host a unit from June 30th to July 3rd, including the El Toscal Longueras neighborhood, and the Multicentro El Trompo in La Orotava will be open Monday through Friday.

Gran Canaria Donations can be made at the Maspalomas House of Culture (Monday to Thursday), the El Tablero square (July 1st and 2nd), and Avenida de Canarias in Vecindario (June 29th and 30th). On Friday, units will be at the Alisios and Buenavista shopping centers. The "Gobcan Solidario" initiative will also visit the Edificio de Usos Múltiples II (Monday) and the Edificio de Usos Múltiples I (Tuesday). Additional drives are scheduled for the Alcampo shopping center (July 2nd and 3rd), the General Directorate of Traffic (July 1st), and the Lopesan Costa Meloneras (June 30th) and Corallium Dunamar (July 2nd) hotels.

Fuerteventura and Lanzarote In Fuerteventura, mobile units will be in Pájara from June 29th to July 3rd, alternating between the La Lajita church area and the Town Hall. In Lanzarote, the Deiland Shopping Center will host donors on Monday and Tuesday.

Permanent Donation Centers In addition to mobile units, you can donate at fixed centers. In Tenerife, the center on Calle Méndez Núñez in Santa Cruz is open Monday through Friday. The San Isidro clinic in Granadilla de Abona is also open Monday through Friday and offers reserved parking. For questions regarding the donation process, you can call 677 980 518.
