Canary Islands Government Funds 51 Visual Arts Projects with €200,000
The Canary Islands Government is allocating 200,000 euros to 51 visual arts projects, with individual grants up to 4,000 euros, to support local artists and foster cultural innovation.
The Canary Islands Government is providing funding for 51 visual arts projects created by artists from the islands. The decision was finalized by Migdalia Machín, the Minister of Universities, Science, Innovation, and Culture.
A total of 200,000 euros will be shared among the selected projects, with each recipient getting up to 4,000 euros. These projects cover a range of visual arts, such as painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, photography, digital art, and installations. The projects are either currently underway or will be completed in 2025.
Minister Machín stated that supporting contemporary art shows the government's dedication to artists in the Canary Islands who are developing new visual styles and building a varied, innovative culture that reflects the islands' identity. She added that this funding also helps strengthen community ties and promote Canarian talent both within and outside the islands.
You can find the full list of approved projects, as well as those that were not selected from the 74 submissions, on the website of the Canarian Institute for Cultural Development (ICDC) at www.icdcultural.org and on the Ministry's notice board.
