The Canary Islands government has launched a three-million-euro funding package to support local audiovisual creators and bolster the region's status as an international production hub.

The regional government has announced a new funding package to support the Canary Islands' film industry. The Ministry of Universities, Science, Innovation, and Culture has allocated nearly three million euros to help local creators, covering every stage of production from initial scriptwriting to the final delivery of feature films, series, and documentaries.

Led by Migdalia Machín, the department has integrated these grants into the Canary Islands Audiovisual Strategy. This multi-year plan supports a wide range of projects, including fiction, animation, and short films, as well as industry events. The government aims to promote the islands' cultural identity and build on the sector's growing success in international markets.

Applications will be processed online through the regional government’s website. While the official submission period begins once the guidelines are published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC)—expected in the coming days—the technical documentation is already available for review.

This initiative comes as the Canary Islands continue to establish themselves as a major hub for audiovisual production, thanks to both local talent and attractive tax incentives for international film crews. By providing these new resources, the government hopes to ensure that local creators have the support they need to develop original projects, keeping Canarian talent competitive on the global stage.
