Canary Islands Forecast: Unsettled Weather, Cooling Temperatures, and Saharan Dust Expected Monday

The Canary Islands are bracing for unsettled weather this Monday, featuring cooling temperatures, scattered rain, and potential Saharan dust across the archipelago.

The Canary Islands will experience unsettled weather this Monday, April 6, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). Conditions are expected to shift throughout the day, with clouds building up across the northern and eastern slopes of Tenerife, potentially bringing scattered rain by the afternoon.

Cloudy skies will be the norm across the archipelago, with cloud cover increasing in higher areas from midday onwards. Light, isolated showers are possible in these elevated inland spots. Additionally, Saharan dust (calima) may appear at high altitudes over Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, which could affect air quality and visibility in the eastern islands.

Temperatures are set to drop, with a slight to moderate cooling expected. This decrease will be more noticeable in mid-altitude regions than along the coast. Minimum temperatures will remain largely steady, though northern mid-altitude areas may see a slight dip.

Winds will blow from the northwest at light to moderate speeds, with stronger gusts expected along the western coasts and the northeastern tip of Tenerife. In the eastern islands, these stronger winds will be most prominent during the early morning. As these conditions are typical for a Canarian spring, residents and visitors are advised to take care when outdoors or near the coast.
