Canary Islands Forecast: Sunny Good Friday to Give Way to Weekend Rain
The Canary Islands will enjoy stable, sunny weather this Good Friday before unsettled conditions and rain arrive across the archipelago starting Saturday.
Good Friday in the Canary Islands will be calm and stable, making it a perfect day for outdoor plans, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). However, this clear weather won't last; conditions are expected to become unsettled starting Saturday, with rain forecast across several parts of the islands.
In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, temperatures will be mild, ranging from 16°C to 22°C. The afternoon will see an increase in high clouds, accompanied by moderate northeasterly winds and coastal breezes in the west. Inland, temperatures are expected to dip slightly.
The rest of the province follows a similar pattern. In La Gomera, temperatures will sit between 18°C and 26°C, with morning clouds in the north clearing up as the day progresses. La Palma will see temperatures between 17°C and 21°C, with stronger winds expected along the southeast and northwest coasts and a noticeable drop in temperature at higher altitudes. Finally, El Hierro will remain stable with temperatures between 12°C and 18°C, alongside the typical northeasterly winds and southwestern breezes.
This shift in weather over the weekend is significant for tourism and travel, as Holy Week is one of the busiest times for visitors and outdoor events. The move toward wetter weather after a sunny start is typical for a Canarian spring, where trade winds and the islands' unique landscape often cause rapid local weather changes.
