Canary Islands Forecast: Stable Weather Expected Despite High-Altitude Wind Warnings

The Canary Islands are set for stable weather this Saturday, though authorities have issued warnings for strong wind gusts in high-altitude areas across the archipelago.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) reports that the Canary Islands will see stable weather this Saturday, though conditions will vary significantly at higher altitudes. The trade winds will play a major role, affecting outdoor plans and safety in mountainous areas.

In Tenerife, temperatures in the capital will range from 19°C to 28°C. While northern coastal areas may start the day with clouds, these are expected to clear by the afternoon. Aemet has issued a warning for the island’s high mountain areas, where strong southwesterly gusts are expected; visitors to these elevations should exercise caution. Additionally, northern winds are set to pick up later in the day in the northwest and metropolitan regions.

The rest of the archipelago faces a similar outlook. Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura could see temperatures climb toward 30°C in inland and southern areas. Meanwhile, Lanzarote, La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro will see morning clouds along their northern coasts clear up by midday.

Beyond the temperature, wind remains a key concern. Along with the warning for Tenerife’s summits, authorities are monitoring exposed areas of Gran Canaria, La Gomera, and El Hierro for strong gusts. Because the islands' volcanic terrain can cause unpredictable wind patterns, officials advise residents and visitors to stay updated on local conditions.
