Canary Islands Forecast: Stable Weather Continues Amid Rough Seas Warning
The Canary Islands will experience stable weather with a north-south cloud contrast and moderate trade winds, though Aemet has issued a warning for rough seas.
The Canary Islands will see stable weather again this Wednesday, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The trade winds will continue to shape the islands' climate, creating the usual contrast between the cloudy north and the sunny south.
In Tenerife, the north will start the day with overcast skies below 1,300 meters. There may be light rain in the northeastern midlands early on, but skies should clear as the afternoon progresses. The rest of the island will remain mostly clear, with only a few morning clouds in the southwest.
Temperatures will stay steady, with only minor changes expected, mainly a slight drop in the southern midlands. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, temperatures will range from 20°C to 26°C. Moderate trade winds will blow across most of the island, with stronger gusts expected in the southeast and far northwest, especially in the morning. On the peaks, winds will come from the southwest, while the west coast will see lighter breezes.
Conditions at sea are more challenging, and Aemet has issued a warning for sailors. Northeasterly winds of force 5 or 6—reaching force 7 in exposed areas—will create rough to very rough seas. However, the sheltered southwest coast will remain calmer, with light winds and a northerly swell of up to two meters.
Across the archipelago, the pattern remains the same: cloudy mornings in the north that gradually clear, and sunny conditions in the south. The persistent trade winds continue to be the main weather driver, affecting everything from daily life to local fishing and port operations.
