Canary Islands Forecast: Stable Holiday Weekend to Give Way to Mid-Week DANA Instability

Source: El Día

The Canary Islands will enjoy stable weather through the end of the Holy Week holidays before a DANA system brings increased cloud cover and showers starting mid-next week.

The Canary Islands are set for a calm end to the Holy Week holidays, but a significant weather shift is on the horizon for the middle of next week.

According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), this Sunday will remain largely stable. While some clouds will develop during the day—particularly over the higher islands—only isolated, light showers are expected. In Tenerife, northern winds will bring some low-lying clouds to northern areas by the end of the day. Temperatures across the archipelago will remain steady, generally ranging between 18°C and 24°C, with some slight warming expected on the eastern slopes and southern coasts.

However, this spring-like weather will change by the second half of next week. Forecasters at Meteored are tracking an "Isolated Depression at High Levels" (known as a DANA) moving toward the region. This weather system is expected to bring instability starting Wednesday.

The most significant impact is predicted for Thursday and Friday. During this time, the islands can expect increased cloud cover and showers, particularly in mountainous areas and along northern coastlines, marking a sharp contrast to the quiet weather seen over the holiday weekend.
