Canary Islands Forecast: Stable Conditions Expected With Increasing Afternoon Cloud Cover
The Canary Islands are set for a stable Tuesday with mild temperatures, though AEMET forecasts increasing cloud cover and strengthening trade winds by the afternoon.
The Canary Islands will remain mostly stable this Tuesday, according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET). However, the forecast suggests conditions will become more unsettled by the afternoon due to trade winds and high-altitude cloud cover.
In Tenerife, the weather will be split. The day will start clear, but clouds will gather over the southern and eastern slopes and the interior by the afternoon. There is a slight chance of light, scattered rain. Temperatures in the capital, Santa Cruz, will remain mild, ranging between 18 and 23 degrees Celsius—much the same as yesterday.
Wind will be the main factor for coastal and maritime activities. A strengthening northeast breeze is expected, with stronger gusts forecast for the southeast coast of Tenerife. A similar pattern is expected in Gran Canaria, particularly in the northwest and southeast. On the peaks of Tenerife, winds will be variable but stronger at higher altitudes, blowing mostly from the southwest.
The rest of the archipelago will follow a similar trend. Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will stay clear with moderate winds, while La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro will see some cloud in the interior, though rain is unlikely. At sea, conditions remain normal with slight to moderate swells of up to one meter, posing no issues for port operations.
