
Canary Islands Forecast Rain, Cooler Temperatures Wednesday
The Canary Islands will experience increased cloudiness and light rain on Wednesday, particularly in the eastern islands and northern areas, with temperatures dropping slightly and moderate northeasterly winds developing.
Wednesday in the Canary Islands will see more clouds and some light rain. This will be especially true for the eastern islands and the northern parts of the other islands, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
Early in the morning, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and the north of the larger islands will be partly cloudy. This will turn mostly cloudy with light rain, which could be moderate in some spots. By the afternoon, skies are expected to clear widely. Elsewhere in the archipelago, the day will start partly cloudy and become cloudier as it goes on.
Temperatures will drop a little to moderately, with daytime highs seeing the biggest change. However, the southern slopes of the larger islands won't see much change. Winds will start light and variable, then become moderate from the northeast by midday.
At sea, winds will be light to moderate from the south, easing to a westerly direction in the afternoon, then strengthening from the north or northeast later. The sea will be choppy or slightly rough. Expect waves up to three meters high from the northwest along the north and northeast coasts. There's a chance of showers in the westernmost islands late in the day.
Tenerife: The north will be cloudy with rain, possibly persistent on higher ground, but clearing up later. The south will have cloudy spells. Temperatures will fall in the north. Temperatures (°C): Santa Cruz de Tenerife 16 / 22 Wind: Light westerly, becoming moderate northeasterly. On the summits, moderate northerly winds with strong gusts.
La Gomera: The north will be cloudy with light rain, possibly moderate in some areas, easing off in the afternoon. The south will see cloudy intervals. Temperatures (°C): San Sebastián 17 / 22 Wind: Light northwesterly, becoming moderate northeasterly with strong gusts.
La Palma: Skies will be cloudy or overcast, with more persistent rain in the north and east, especially on higher ground. It will clear up in the afternoon. Temperatures will fall. Temperatures (°C): Santa Cruz de La Palma 16 / 20 Wind: Moderate northeasterly, strengthening by midday with strong gusts.
El Hierro: Cloudy spells will become cloudy in the morning, with light rain in the north. It will improve in the afternoon. Temperatures (°C): Valverde 13 / 17 Wind: Light northwesterly, becoming moderate northeasterly with strong gusts by the end of the day.
Lanzarote: It will be partly cloudy at dawn, becoming cloudier in the morning, especially in the north, with light rain. Skies will clear from midday. Fuerteventura: Clouds will increase during the morning with occasional light rain. The afternoon will be clearer. Daytime highs will fall. Temperatures (°C): Puerto del Rosario 15 / 22 Wind: Light westerly, becoming moderate northeasterly.
Gran Canaria: The north will be cloudy with light to moderate rain in the morning, clearing up in the afternoon. The south will have cloudy spells around midday. Temperatures will fall in the north.
