Canary Islands Flight Lasered on New Year's Eve
On New Year's Eve, a flight from Tenerife South to Lanzarote reported being targeted by a laser pointer during its climb, prompting a Civil Guard report and a warning from air traffic controllers about the serious crime.
Even on New Year's Eve, flight incidents continue to happen.
Air traffic controllers have shared on social media details of a new incident involving a flight in the Canary Islands.
Specifically, on December 31st, the crew of a plane flying from Tenerife South to Lanzarote reported being targeted by a laser pointer during its climb.
This incident led them to file a report with the Civil Guard. The report included the laser's position, which the crew had identified.
In their post, the controllers stressed that pointing a laser can cause blindness. If aimed at an airplane cockpit, it could incapacitate the crew. Such an act is a serious crime.
