Canary Islands’ ‘En Casa Podcast’ Launches Second Season at Historic Gran Hotel Taoro
Broadcaster Pedro Rodríguez’s En Casa Podcast returns for a second season at the historic Gran Hotel Taoro, blending intimate storytelling with regional support to highlight the growth of the Canary Islands' digital media landscape.
The Canary Islands' on-demand audio and video scene is growing, with the second season of En Casa Podcast marking a major milestone. As reported by Diario de Avisos, the project—led by broadcaster Pedro Rodríguez—has moved from a home studio to a historic venue: the Gran Hotel Taoro in Puerto de la Cruz.
While the setting has changed, the show’s core remains the same: prioritizing deep, meaningful conversation over the fast-paced nature of traditional interviews. For Rodríguez, the podcast is more than just a professional project; it has become a source of personal resilience following his Parkinson’s diagnosis, which has deeply influenced the show’s tone and pace.
The podcast’s growth has been supported by both public and private backing, including the Puerto de la Cruz City Council, the Tenerife Island Council, and various local businesses, alongside a continued partnership with Atlántico Televisión. This support allows the 16 new episodes to reach a wide audience across YouTube, Spotify, social media, and regional television.
The new season kicks off this Friday at the Sala Andrómeda in Costa Martiánez. The launch event is already sold out, with 300 guests from the islands' cultural and social sectors expected to attend. This "chapter zero" will preview the new season ahead of its official April 19 premiere, featuring a look back at the show’s journey and an interactive session with guests from the first season.
The success of En Casa Podcast proves that slow-paced, intimate storytelling can thrive in the digital age. By maintaining high production standards while staying true to its personal roots, the show has become a key example of how local content can effectively boost the region’s cultural and tourism profile. The presence of local leaders, including Mayor Leopoldo Afonso and Gran Hotel Taoro Director Gustavo Escobar at the launch, highlights the project's strategic importance to the community.
