Canary Islands Clubs Prepare for Segunda Federación Season Kickoff
Four Canary Islands clubs begin their Segunda Federación campaigns this weekend, with Tenerife B facing Badajoz and Atlético Paso hosting Numancia following a league-wide restructuring.
The Segunda Federación season kicks off this weekend, featuring four clubs from the Canary Islands. Following a last-minute decision by the Royal Spanish Football Federation, the teams have been split into two groups: Atlético Paso will compete in Group V, while Tenerife B, Las Palmas Atlético, and Tamaraceite have been placed in Group IV.
Tenerife B enters its third consecutive season in the division, building on a solid foundation after securing 50 and 47 points in the previous two campaigns. Managed by Leandro Cabrera, the team opens its season away at Badajoz—a historic club aiming to return to professional football. The reserve side has undergone a significant overhaul, adding new signings like Oier Gastesi, Tito Cordero, and Ismael Muñoz to their core of homegrown talent. Meanwhile, Atlético Paso returns to the division with a completely revamped squad following their recent promotion. Under manager Maxi Barrera and sporting director Jony Vega, the La Palma club has focused on a total restructure. Key additions include experienced center-back Aridane Hernández and a long list of new recruits, such as Nili Perdomo, Carlos León, and Aythami Perera. They will open their campaign at home against Numancia, a match that will test the ambitions of a team looking to establish itself as a consistent force in national football.
