Canary Islands Brace for Strengthening Winds Amid Stable Temperatures

Source: El Día

The Canary Islands will experience stable temperatures this Tuesday, though strengthening northeasterly winds and increasing coastal swells are expected throughout the day.

The Canary Islands will experience stable weather this Tuesday, according to the latest report from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). However, conditions are set to change as winds pick up throughout the day, particularly affecting the eastern islands and more exposed coastal areas as the breeze shifts to the northeast.

Temperatures will remain steady, with highs reaching 25°C in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and 24°C in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. While the air remains calm, sea conditions will become slightly rougher, with waves potentially reaching two meters. Temperatures will see only minor fluctuations, with slight increases expected on the peaks and eastern slopes of Gran Canaria, and small decreases in parts of the western islands.

Cloud cover will follow a typical daily pattern, with high clouds and some cloud formations appearing during the middle of the day across the region. Tenerife will see increased cloudiness in both the north and south, while Gran Canaria will remain mostly clear, except for cloudy intervals in the north. La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro will see similar conditions, with more clouds developing by midday.

This weather is typical for the region under the influence of a subtropical anticyclone. However, strong southwest gusts are expected on the peaks of Tenerife, highlighting how the island's terrain influences local conditions. Overall, while temperatures remain mild, the main story for Tuesday is the strengthening wind from mid-morning onwards, which will impact both coastal and high-altitude activities.
