The Canary Islands are bracing for unsettled weather as storm Therese moves across the archipelago. According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), this low-pressure system is expected to affect the islands until Wednesday, with the heaviest rain and potential storms forecast for early Tuesday morning.

Tuesday’s forecast shows mostly cloudy skies with some sunny intervals. While rain is expected across most of the islands, the risk of intense downpours is highest in the early hours. Temperatures will remain stable, ranging from a low of 11°C in Valverde to a high of 22°C in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. However, AEMET has warned that frost is possible at higher altitudes, which is typical for the islands' peaks during winter weather shifts.

Coastal conditions will also be affected. Seas will be slight to moderate, though they may become rough in the northwest by nightfall. Winds will generally blow from the south across most of the islands. In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, a moderate southeasterly breeze will ease throughout the afternoon before shifting to the north by the end of the day, signaling the start of an improvement in the weather.

Because of the islands' rugged landscape, rainfall distribution can vary significantly, and heavy showers may intermittently reduce visibility on both land and sea. Authorities advise residents to keep an eye on official updates, as the instability from storm Therese is expected to persist until Wednesday before conditions gradually begin to settle.
