A storm warning has been issued in the Canary Islands due to strong winds, high waves, and large tides, especially on the coast of Tenerife.

Attention! A storm warning has been issued in the Canary Islands.

On Tuesday, October 7, starting from 12:00 PM, a warning about dangerous phenomena on the coast is in effect for all the Canary Islands. This decision was made based on meteorological data and other sources. It is part of the action plan in case of bad weather in the Canary Islands.

The storm will mostly affect the southeastern and northwestern coasts of the island of Tenerife, in particular the municipalities of San Miguel de Abona, Granadilla, Arico, Fasnia, Güímar, and Buenavista del Norte.

A northeast wind of 29-49 km/h is expected, with gusts up to 70 km/h in the open sea and near the coast. There will be strong waves at sea, up to three meters high.

The warning applies to all islands: Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, and Gran Canaria. Strong winds and waves from the northwest, 1-1.5 meters high, are also predicted there.

On the eastern islands, the bad weather will mostly affect the open coast, as well as the eastern and southeastern shores.

In addition, it is currently a full moon, which leads to large tides that may increase the impact of the waves.

According to the CECOES 1-1-2 rescue service, the highest tides will be between 1:45 PM and 2:30 PM on Tuesday, and again between 2:25 PM and 3:05 PM on Wednesday.

The authorities urge people not to swim or fish in dangerous places, and not to get close to the shore to watch the waves.

On the island of Tenerife, it is reminded that it is important to observe the bans on visiting coastal areas and to follow official announcements about weather changes.
