Canaries Forecast: Sunny Sunday with Clearing Northern Clouds
The Canary Islands are forecast for generally clear skies on Sunday, with cloudy periods in northern areas of larger islands clearing by midday, stable to slightly rising temperatures, and a moderate northeast wind.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) predicts that Sunday in the Canary Islands will generally see clear skies. However, there will be cloudy periods in the northern parts of the larger islands, including Tenerife, where these clouds are expected to clear up significantly during the middle of the day.
High temperatures will stay much the same or rise slightly, particularly inland and on mountain peaks. Low temperatures will change very little. A moderate northeast wind is expected, with stronger gusts possible on exposed slopes.
At sea, a northeast wind of force 4 or 5 is forecast, strengthening to force 6 at times in the west during the afternoon. Waves will be one to two meters high, coming from the north.
On Tenerife, cloudy periods will mainly be in the north and northeast, with these clouds clearing up more and more from the afternoon. The rest of the island will be partly cloudy, with a few isolated cloudy spells in inland areas facing south. High temperatures will rise slightly, with more noticeable, possibly moderate, increases inland and on the summits. The northeast wind will be moderate, with strong gusts sometimes hitting the southeast during the middle of the day. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, temperatures will range from 16 to 22 degrees Celsius.
LANZAROTE Mostly sunny, but with some cloudy periods in the morning. Temperatures will change little, though highs might rise slightly. Arrecife: 14–20 °C
FUERTEVENTURA Mainly sunny, apart from some cloudy spells in the early morning. Temperatures will be stable or show a slight increase. Puerto del Rosario: 15–20 °C
GRAN CANARIA Cloudy periods in the north, becoming partly cloudy by midday. High temperatures will rise slightly, more so in higher areas. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: 17–21 °C
LA GOMERA Cloudy periods in the north, with partly cloudy skies elsewhere. Temperatures will see little change. San Sebastián de La Gomera: 16–21 °C
LA PALMA Cloudy periods in the north and east, and partly cloudy elsewhere. High temperatures will rise slightly, while low temperatures will drop a little in higher areas. Santa Cruz de La Palma: 13–20 °C
EL HIERRO Cloudy periods in the north, with partly cloudy skies across the rest of the island. The northeast wind will shift to an easterly direction. Valverde: 12–16 °C
