Aemet forecasts mixed weather for Wednesday, October 29, across the Canary Islands, with a chance of light rain on mountainous islands, very strong wind gusts up to 90 km/h on Tenerife's central peaks, and generally stable temperatures, advising caution in high-wind areas.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) predicts mixed weather for Wednesday, October 29, in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife province. Expect a mix of high and low clouds, with moderate winds starting from the west and changing to northerly. There's a chance of light rain on the islands with mountains.
Very strong wind gusts, possibly over 90 km/h, could hit Tenerife's central peaks early in the morning before easing off later. Coastal temperatures will stay much the same, while inland areas might see a slight drop.
For Tenerife, expect partly cloudy skies. Light rain is possible in the north and inland eastern and southern areas during the afternoon. Temperatures in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will be mild, ranging from 21 to 27 °C. Winds will be moderate from the west, turning northwest with strong gusts by the end of the day.
La Palma will see mostly cloudy skies in the west. Light, occasional rain is expected on the northern and eastern slopes in the afternoon. Winds will be moderate from the west, shifting to northerly, with strong gusts in higher elevations. Santa Cruz de La Palma will have temperatures between 20 and 25 °C.
La Gomera starts the day with a mix of high and low clouds. There's a chance of light rain on the northern and western slopes. Moderate westerly winds will shift to northerly in the afternoon. San Sebastián de La Gomera could reach a high of 26 °C.
El Hierro's north will be cloudy with some light rain. Winds will be moderate from the northwest. Valverde will see temperatures between 17 and 21 °C.
Aemet predicts a calmer day for the Las Palmas province, though still with a mix of high and low clouds and steady temperatures.
Gran Canaria will have cloudy periods, with a chance of light rain on the western slopes and inland areas in the afternoon. Winds will be light and changeable, generally becoming northwesterly. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will reach highs of 26 °C.
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will see high and light clouds, with a low chance of rain. Light westerly winds will turn northwesterly overnight. Temperatures will be 21 to 27 °C in Arrecife and 21 to 26 °C in Puerto del Rosario.
Across the entire archipelago, expect a persistent north or northwest swell, bringing waves of 1 to 2 meters. Seas will be choppy to moderate, depending on the location. Sea winds will blow from the west or northwest at force 3 to 5, making coastal navigation safe.
Aemet advises caution in the high areas of Tenerife and La Palma because of the strong wind gusts. They also remind everyone to check updated weather reports for any changes.
