Canarias Jazz & Más Festival Launches 35th Edition Across the Canary Islands
The 35th Canarias Jazz & Más International Festival has launched across the Canary Islands, featuring a diverse lineup of world-class artists performing in multiple municipalities to promote cultural tourism and regional connectivity.
The 35th Canarias Jazz & Más International Festival kicked off this Friday, cementing its status as one of the Canary Islands' most important cultural events. Organizers say the festival, which spans five municipalities across Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and La Graciosa, aims to bring music to more areas beyond the usual tourist hubs, helping to boost local economies and cultural tourism.
The opening day featured seven world-class acts. Ghost-Note performed at the Auditorio de Tenerife, while the Plaza de San Juan in Arucas hosted Moisés P. Sánchez’s Where Light Begins and the American group Yellowjackets. Meanwhile, Lajalada performed at the Inocencia Páez Socio-Cultural Center in La Graciosa.
The festival continues this weekend with artists rotating between islands. In Gran Canaria, the Maspalomas Lighthouse esplanade will host Powafunk and the Sylwester Ostrowski and Freddie Hendrix tour on Saturday, followed by Ghost-Note and the José Vera Bello Quintet on Sunday. The Plaza del Adelantado in La Laguna will host a matching schedule, featuring Moisés P. Sánchez and Yellowjackets on Saturday, and Powafunk alongside the Ostrowski and Hendrix ensemble on Sunday.
After a two-day break, the festival resumes next Wednesday. Starting the following weekend, the event will expand to include La Palma, El Hierro, and Fuerteventura. This traveling format not only gives artists greater exposure but also helps connect the islands through a shared cultural experience that has been a staple of the Canarian summer for over 30 years.
