The 35th Canarias Jazz & Más International Festival continues this weekend across four islands, featuring a diverse lineup of world-renowned artists, unique collaborations, and educational programming.
The 35th Canarias Jazz & Más International Festival continues this weekend, anchoring the cultural scene across Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote, and La Gomera. Organizers remain committed to a diverse lineup that blends world-renowned artists with cutting-edge performers and local talent.
This weekend’s highlights include performances by acclaimed instrumentalists such as Brazilian mandolin virtuoso Hamilton de Holanda and Swiss pianist Manon Mullener, who is using the festival to debut her third album, Stories. The program also showcases unique collaborations, most notably the trio featuring Valencian musician Xavi Torres and Puerto Rican saxophonist Miguel Zenón. Other featured artists include Marco Mezquida, the Canarian collective Simbeque Project, and vocalists José James and Célia Kameni.
The festival’s schedule is spread across the islands:
- Gran Canaria: The Teatro Pérez Galdós hosts a double feature this Friday, including a roundtable discussion on European jazz and a Marvin Gaye tribute by James and Kameni.
- Tenerife: García Sanabria Park hosts Mullener and De Holanda on Friday, followed by the Simbeque Project and the Torres-Zenón trio on Saturday.
- Lanzarote: A double event takes place this Friday at the Plaza del Almacén in Arrecife.
- La Gomera: The Simbeque Project will perform at Playa Santiago this Sunday.
The festival also emphasizes education and family engagement. On Sunday at noon, the show Ponké y la ciudad del Jazz will be held at Espacio La Granja in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, offering a fun introduction to the genre for younger audiences.
By combining high-profile performances with educational outreach and cross-cultural exchange, the festival continues to establish the Canary Islands as a key destination on the international summer jazz circuit.
